Science
In Science we aim to develop the skills and strategies, both intellectual and practical, which allow your child to explore the world and to gain a fuller understanding of phenomena and scientific ways of investigating. By developing how children work scientifically, understanding and skills and building upon their natural curiosity we encourage them to investigate and question the physical world in which they live.
We follow the updated National Curriculum for Science adjusting skills and knowledge work to meet the needs of our pupils. We complement it as necessary thorough direct subject teaching as well as a thematic approach to provide the maximum benefit to our pupils. We achieve this through a cycle of topics which are developed from the children’s previous experiences. As they move through school they meet new topics, which will draw extensively on their increasing understanding of the world around them as well as revisiting core knowledge so they gain a deeper understanding and greater scientific competence.
